WEST PALM BEACH (CBSMiami/AP) — A woman and her two children were taken to the hospital after she pulled out in front of a West Palm Beach police officer who was heading to a hospital on a call.

Police say the officer's lights and siren were activated when the crash occurred Monday night. They didn't say why the woman pulled into the intersection.

The woman's children sustained serious injuries. Detective Lori Colombino said they were not restrained in the vehicle. Their mother and the officer were also hurt. Officials say their injuries were not considered life threatening.

No further details were immediately available.
