MIAMI (CBSMiami) - An Uber driver is thankful to be alive after he was carjacked at gunpoint.

"I didn't fight him, I gave it right up and walked away because he had a big ol gun," said the driver who did not wish to be identified.

Surveillance video from the home of the customer he was picking up at 18331 NW 85th Stree captured the armed carjacker in action early Wednesday morning. On the video, the Uber driver backs into the driveway, gets out of his silver Toyota Corolla, walks over to his trunk, then gets back into the driver seat to wait for the customer. Seconds later, the armed man approaches him.

"Just before the customer came out, a black gentleman with a gun demanded my car and took off in my car, he carjacked me," said the driver.

The customer, Fabiana Lebrun, was walking out when it happened. She said the driver told her to call 911 and within minutes police arrived.

Shaken after the robbery, the driver said he's never had any problems in the past.

"I've had over 5,000 customers in the last year and it's the first incident I've ever had," he said.

Neighbors who live in the area are stunned.

"I think it's crazy, this is not the type of neighborhood you see this happen. It's an established neighborhood for many years, all the neighbors get along and stick together to be vigilant," said Grace Rodriguez.

The driver hopes the police can track down the guy and get his car back.

"That's my office, my business, I can't make money without it, I really do hope they find it"
