Massive Sinkhole Opens Near Florida Trailer Park

TARPON SPRINGS (CBSMiami) -- A massive sinkhole opened up in Tarpon Springs Wednesday, prompting evacuations.

The large hole opened around Mango Street near U.S. 19 early in the morning near the Tarpon Shores Mobile Home Park, city officials said.

About six homes in the park were evacuated.

The hole measured about 60 feet across and was about 35 feet deep.

No injuries were reported.

The city said contractors were working in the area to fix a previous road collapse when the hole opened up.
