DAVIE (CBSMiami) – The MiamI Dolphins have their foot on the gas and are showing no signs of slowing down.

After acquiring Kiko Alonso and Byron Maxwell from Philadelphia (pending physicals), restructuring the deals of Ndamukong Suh, Koa Misi and Jordan Cameron and reportedly parting ways with Brent Grimes, Miami appears on the brink of making another big splash.

According to Pro Football Talk, the Dolphins are the "clear front-runners" to sign defensive end Mario Williams and that a deal could get done sometime on Tuesday.

Signing Williams, a former first overall draft pick, would likely mean that either Cameron Wake or Olivier Vernon would not be retained by Miami.

Williams visited the Dolphins facility over the weekend but left without signing a deal.

Even though the NFL's free agency period doesn't begin until Wednesday at 4 p.m., Williams was cut by the Buffalo Bills last week so he is free to sign with any team at any time.
