The boat was about six miles east of the Haulover Inlet Saturday morning when the Coast Guard said they received a distress call that the boaters were taking on water.

First on the scene was the Coast Guard securing the passengers onboard. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Fireboat North and the Aventura Police Marine Patrol arrived later. They were able to tow the boat before handing things over to the Coast Guard.

Two people aboard the boat were returned safely to land. They did not need any medical attention.

Officials did not say what caused the boat to sink.
