Wettest Winter On Record For Miami, Miami Beach

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – South Floridians know all too well our winter was really quite wet and now we're learning the wet winter has set a record.

According to the National Weather Service, Miami and Miami Beach both set new records for the wettest winter on record.

Miami's new record now stands at 20.26" which beats the old record of 19.06" set back in 1905.

Miami Beach's new record is 19.15" which beats the previous record of 16.47" set in 1983.

Fort Lauderdale (17.07") and West Palm Beach (19.90") had their 3rd wettest winter on record.

The record for Ft. Lauderdale is 24.80" set in 1959 and at West Palm Beach it's 22.43 set in 1998.

The time frame for this meteorological winter is December through February.
