MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami night was saturated with red and blue police car lights for yet again another shooting involving teens packing high powered weapons.

By far the most serious shooting happened on 14th Ave. and 71st St.

"A black male subject approached him produced a firearm and shot him," Miami police spokesperson Robin Pinkard said.

It's unknown where the 16-year-old  boy was hit, but paramedics found him unconscious.

City of Miami Fire Capt. Ignatius Carroll explained, "This person was unresponsive. Paramedics quickly initiated lifesaving efforts and he was quickly transported to Ryder Trauma Center in extremely critical condition."

"Where unfortunately he was pronounced dead," Pinkard added.

Shooting scene number two was just blocks away on 19th Ave. and 75th St.

Dequan Gordon, 16, and Kawaski Sams, 21, were sitting on a porch when the suspect approached them on foot, pulled out a gun and shot at them. Gordon was shot in an upper leg.

The shooter fled in a newer-model red Toyota Camry that was waiting for him, firing several more shots at the victims from the vehicle as they fled.

Again, local residents are not talking on TV but said they heard shots and then, a short time later, they heard shots from the other location.

Are the two shootings linked?

Detectives at both locations are "working together to see if indeed they are linked."

Neighbors are convinced the 19th Street shooting is in retaliation for the shooting death of 16-year-old La'Nard Wilcher on February 13th along the railroad tracks a few blocks away.

"We do not know. The homicide unit is here. They are dedicating all their resources they have to determine if that is the case," Pinkard said.

One resident is fed up with all the violence.

"I am at wits end because it does not seem like there is a solution other than all of us getting together and getting involved as a community," said Tanglia Mitchell.
