MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Two people died in a fiery SUV crash on I-95.

The Nissan Murano was heading north around 3:30 a.m. when the driver lost control between NW 2nd Street and the entrance to I-395, hit the left concrete median, veered across the highway and came to rest on the right shoulder where the vehicle burst into flames, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

A person who saw the incident recounted the moments.

"I was driving on the highway and saw those guys in flames in my back mirror," said the friend.

Road ranger Jose Luis Reyes, who was in the area, managed to pull the driver out of the SUV.

"They usually get to the scene before we do. It's not the first time they act correctly. My hats off to the Road Ranger, one of the best services we provide on these highways," said Trooper Joe Sanchez with (FHP).

Unfortunately, the driver who officials say is in his early 20s and from Illinois lost his life at the hospital. His passenger never made it out.

"This accident has taken two lives. We are investigating .I do believe speed was a factor. We are waiting on a test to see if alcohol was a factor in this accident," said Sanchez.

The unrecognizable car was towed from the scene and taken to the Medical Examiner's Office with the passengers body still inside.
