The shooting happened at the clubhouse of the Isle at Oasis community on Mediterranean Avenue and Pacific Boulevard just after 8 p.m. Thursday.
“There was an argument, there was some type of dispute where a male produced a firearm, shot the female that was inside the clubhouse, shot the second victim that was transported,” explained Det. Alvaro Zabaleta. “And then, from what it appears, shot himself.”
The woman’s sister, Jacqueline Arevalo-Lezcano, identified her as 41-year old Tania Adams, a mother of three kids. She said she was killed by 50-year old Domingo Adams, her husband of 15 years. The couple had recently separated.
“I wish we had had more time to stay together,” said Arevalo-Lezcano who added she didn’t to believe the police when they told her Tania was gone. “I was just hoping it wasn’t true, that it was a mistake.”READ MORE: Parkland Activist Dad Fred Guttenberg Joins Anti-Gun Group
Arevalo-Lezcano said Domingo shot her sister and 27-year old Herman Silva before he killed himself.
Tania worked as a receptionist at the clubhouse. Silva also worked at the club house. Arevalo-Lezcano said the two were not in a relationship.
“He had threatened her that if she was to leave him, he would do what he did last night,” said Arevalo-Lezcano.
Friends of Tania have set up a GoFundMe page in her maiden name to help pay for funeral expenses.
“Right before Christmas, Tania finally got the courage to take her life back and not live in fear so she moved out from her abusive husband,” according to the page. “He threatened her life and even said ‘I’ll kill you before you leave me’.”MORE NEWS: Miami-Dade Public Schools Could Ease Mask Mandate By End Of Month
Silva’s uncle said his nephew, who was airlifted to the Ryder Trauma Center, was shot in the face and arm. He underwent surgery and is in critical but stable condition.
