Seven Hurt When Miami Flight Hits Turbulence

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Seven people were taken to the hospital after an American Airlines flight from Miami was forced to land in Canada.
The flight, 192 passengers and 11 crew members, was enroute to Milan when it encountered severe turbulence. It was re-routed to Newfoundland.
"We were just riding along and we hit turbulence, the plane actually dropped and rolled on its side, everything went flying and people and yeahhhhh, it was pretty intense," said one woman who was on the flight. "I really though that was it."
"The crew did a phenomenal job. The acted quickly and professionally, they did a good job," said another passenger.
"When we got into the turbulence, it hit like a big dip and some flight attendants were without seatbelts and they were hurt and then the other people, I guess other people passed out cause you know it was bad, hah, scary," said another man.
Three flight attendants and four passengers were transported to a local hospital to get treatment for injuries. The airline worked into the night to arrange travel to Italy for those passengers who were not injured.
