Canes Drop Second Straight, Fall 76-65 To Clemson

GREENVILLE, S.C. (The Sports Xchange) -- Junior forward Jaron Blossomgame scored 25 points as Clemson knocked off No. 8 Miami 76-65 Saturday afternoon at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

Blossomgame made 9 of 15 shots from the floor and also grabbed seven rebounds for the Tigers, who closed the game on a 22-6 run.

The victory gave Clemson three consecutive wins against ranked opponents for the first time in school history and five straight wins against Atlantic Coast Conference opponents for the first time since 1997.

The Tigers will attempt to knock off a fourth straight ranked opponent on Tuesday when they play at No. 13 Virginia.

Clemson (12-6, 5-1 ACC) is 10-2 at "The Well" this season.

Miami (13-3, 2-2), which entered the game having won eight of nine games, led early but cooled off in the second half after making 5 of 6 3-point shots in the first half and leading 35-33 at the break.

Clemson trailed 57-51 with 7:38 remaining, but Blossomgame scored eight straight points to spark the Tigers' game-ending run.

Senior guard Jordan Roper added 18 points and sophomore forward Donte Grantham had 14 for Clemson, which was a perfect 15 of 15 from the free-throw line.

The Hurricanes were led by junior guard Davon Reed, who had 17 points, and senior guard Sheldon McClellan, who scored 14.
