HIALEAH (CBSMiami) – Hialeah homicide detectives have arrested a man for killing his own mother who he referred to as "being evil."

The body of Lourdes Garcia, 58, was discovered Thursday night by family members in her Hialeah apartment, located at 6395 W. 22nd Court.

She lived in the apartment with her son, William Garcia, 36.

According to the arrest affidavit, Lourdes Garcia had "multiple signs of trauma on her body and what appeared to be burn marks on her arms. The bedroom had been set on fire and blood stains were visible on the floor and walls of the bedroom, as well as bloody foot impressions."

Her son, William, was found in Pembroke Pines Friday. The police report states he had burn marks to his arms and the shoe pattern impressions he wore were consistent with the evidence on the scene.

He told police, according to the report, "There was an imaginary person by the name of Cormega who stabbed the victim numerous times, attempted to remove her eyes, and set the bed on fire." He told police he tried to put out the fire which is how he suffered burns to his arms. He also told police "he was there when Garcia was killed but referred to her as Lourdes because she wasn't his mother because she was evil."

Lourdes Garcia had just celebrated her birthday three days earlier.

William Garcia is charged with 2nd Degree Murder and Arson.
