A memorial service was held for Amiere Castro at Second Baptist Church in Southwest Miami-Dade. The 7-year-old was shot in the head while watching TV inside of a home last Sunday.

Community leaders said they’re working hard to take back the streets from the growing gun violence.
“This is happening far too frequently in our community where we’re losing our young, we’re losing our youth. It’s senseless, it’s tragic,” said State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle. “But I think we all still remain very hopeful that if we’re determined to end this senseless violence in our community, we can, we must and we will.”
