South Florida Hospitals Welcome 1st 2016 Babies

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- South Florida hospitals rang in the new year with the first babies of 2016.

Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood said their first bundle of joy was born at 12:10 a.m. Baby Anabelle Pierre was born weighing 7.2 oz.

Her parents, Melisa Pierre and Jean Abel Pierre were able to rest early Friday morning as the baby slept.

In Fort Lauderdale, Broward Health Medical Center welcomed Antonio Miller Burgas into the world at 12:27 a.m.

Parents Lina Burgos and Chuckie Miller of Deerfield Beach said they were thrilled to welcome Lionardo.

In Miami Beach, Mount Sinai staff welcomed Sofia Dulcet-Kruczek at 1:12 a.m. She weighs about 8 pounds and measures about 21 inches.

Baptist Hospital in Miami welcomed their first baby of 2016 and it was also a girl.

She was born at 2:57 a.m. weighing 8 pounds and 8 ounces. The hospital says the mother and daughter are doing just fine.
