MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A local pastor was hard at work Monday trying to make the holiday season a little brighter for some families going through a tough time.

On Monday evening. Pastor Eric Readon was feeding 500 kids Happy Meals at a Miami Gardens McDonald's but his day started much earlier.

Readon made another man's day by giving him some spending cash.

Seventeen year old Hassam Williams was shot on Halloween when someone tried to rob him. Williams is still recovering at the hospital.

"I started running and I started hearing shots. The last shot, I felt hit my body and I fell to the ground, " said Williams.

His mother said, "It's a scary feeling because I thought my son was gone."

Williams doesn't know yet what he will spend the cash gifts on but he says he will spend it.

"Buy an outfit or something for Christmas," said Williams. "It's wonderful. It's wonderful. It's a blessing."

For Readon, it's also personal.

"I baptized him a couple of weeks before he was shot. He had joined our church," said Readon.

The pastor also made a stop at the home of Precious Jackson - a teen shot and killed last summer.

He gave Jackson's little sister - Keyera Butler - something to smile about just in time for Christmas.

"A baby doll, a phone and a kitchen set," said Butler.

Butler's little jeans were covered with pictures of her sister- her one wish.

"I wish she could come back," said Butler.

Her mother wants the same thing.

"Precious was a good child and I really miss her," said Precious' mom who identified herself as Ms. Green. "I want to thank God and let her know her momma really misses her. I really thank God for my pastor doing this for me."
