Living here in South Florida, we quickly become familiar with neighborhoods and their reputations.

One neighborhood in particular garners a lot of local media attention because certain parts are plagued with shootings and violence, but one professor is helping to alter that reputation.

Earlier this year, FIU digital media professor Moses Shumow instructed his students to spend six weeks interviewing residents and capturing video footage in Liberty Square, a public housing project in Liberty City, their work resulted in a documentary and a website, libertysquarerising.com, telling some amazing stories.
