RIVIERA BEACH (CBSMiami) -- A bomb squad was called in to the Riviera Beach Police Headquarters after a suspicious object was found inside the building's lobby.

A 6-inch PVC pipe was brought into the headquarters Sunday afternoon by a resident, police announced in a news release, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

It was sealed at both ends and inside the apparent pipe bomb was a liquid substance.

Authorities evacuated the building at 600 W. Blue Heron Blvd. and shut down the area.

They said nearly 20 homes on Avenue H West have been evacuated, as well.
