Miami Senior High Student Caught With BB Gun

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A Miami Senior High student was taken into custody after he caught with a BB gun on campus.

A school resource officer spotted the gun. When the officer approached the student, police say the student implied it was a real gun and became combative.

The 15-year old 9th grader was arrested.

"The student shouldn't have brought that BB gun to school even if it was a practical joke to him," said student Diana Garcia.  "A panic could be caused throughout the whole school, so I really think it was wrong of him to do that."

Parent Armando Menendez found the incident to be quite disturbing.

"I'm very fearful for our children. It's incredible the kinds of things that are happening," Menendez said. "Children are influenced by many things, but this love affair with guns has to stop."

The teen has been charged with assaulting an officer, resisting arrest and possession of a pellet gun.
