MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Art Basel is over for another year.

Its success points to how thriving the art scene is here in South Florida.

The Perez Art Museum Miami is a part of it all.

CBS4’s Rudabeh Shahbazi got perspective in an extended one-on-one interview with Franklin Sirmans, PAMM’s new director.

Sirmans is described by many as a rock star and game changer in the contemporary art world.

He came from Los Angeles where he worked as a curator. He’s also worked in Houston, New Orleans and Brooklyn.

Now his challenge in Miami will be to attract donors.
