That’s the message from a Florida sheriff whose post on Facebook about gun ownership has gone viral.
“So let there be no mistake in what I’m about to say,” said Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey. “The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.”
The post has over three-million views on Facebook alone, and over 120,000 shares.
Ivey said the reaction to the video is not what he expected.
“It needs to be said that we are going to stand up and unite together. And quite frankly it’s not being said and I think people are thirsty for a solution to this problem,” said Ivey.
Political correctness is why Ivey believes law enforcement leaders across the country are biting their tongues.READ MORE: Parkland Survivor David Hogg On Potential Guilty Plea: 'It's Horrific That Our Community Has To Continue Going Through This'
He said he’s personally disgusted by the terror attacks in Paris and San Bernardino and wants armed citizens to have the ability to take down a shooter.
“The cavalry is coming, but if you can eliminate the threat or stall it until we get there, that’s what we are wanting,” said Ivey.
The video is spreading across the Internet.
“It’s time for PC to become the acronym for protecting citizens which is government’s first and only priority to its people,” said Ivey.
And it’s not just guns.
Ivey said for people who oppose firearms, anything they can get a hold of to help protect themselves is something they should be mindful of, during what he calls a unique time in American history.
“There’s a taser, there’s pepper spray. There is, I don’t care if you pick up a brick to protect yourself and save your family,” said Ivey.MORE NEWS: Nikolas Cruz Pleads Guilty In BSO Jail Guard Attack
