According to a news release from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Matthew Dixon died Thursday at All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg.
Deputies say the boy and his friends were playing with water guns on Saturday when he fell into the swimming pool. A 10-year-old girl attempted to get him out of the pool. Dixon’s mother Kelly Woodward and a neighbor alternated performing CPR until Seminole Fire Rescue crews arrived.
The boy was in critical condition when he arrived at the hospital.
