BSO Ask For Public's Help To ID Pompano Beach Hit & Run Driver

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Investigators are asking for the public's help to find the driver who hit and injured a woman in Pompano Beach overnight.

Broward Sheriff's deputies said crash left the 39-year old Amanda Crews in critical condition with life threatening injuries.

According to investigators, just before 1 a.m. on Friday a vehicle or truck hit crews as she was trying to cross the roadway near 200 N.W. 31 Avenue.

The vehicle was traveling North on N.W. 31st Avenue in the far right lane  at the intersection of N.W. 2nd Street and Crews was walking across NW 31st Avenue at the time of the crash.

The driver sped off shortly after the crash, not stopping to help crews at any point, deputies said.

Rescue crews rushed her to Broward Health North Medical Center.

Meantime, the search is on for the driver.

Deputies said, based on debris recovered from the crash,  the suspect vehicle is an older model, full-size utility vehicle or pickup. They said it likely has damage to the passenger side headlight, front part of the hood and it's missing it's radio antenna.
