MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami Police are on the hunt for a shooter in a road rage incident involving some very luxurious cars on Thanksgiving.
According to detectives, it all started on Thursday when two drivers rolled up to a red light at the intersection of NE 2nd Ave. and 13th St.
The two men had reportedly been feuding for some time on road.
Police said the driver of the Rolls Royce exited the vehicle and approached the driver of a Mercedes C-Class.
Surveillance camera captured as the two drivers exchanged punches.
But when the light turned green, police said the driver of the Mercedes pulled out a gun and shot the other man in the chest.
“We do not know where this whole argument started or what,” said Miami Police spokesperson Kenia Fallat. “It appears it is all road rage.”
The victim, 34-year-old Edward Zapata, made it back to his car but fell on to the asphalt. His passenger dialed police and he was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.
Zapata underwent emergency surgery and is currently listed in stable condition.
Police want to talk to any witness that might have a description of the suspect – Zapata’s passenger never got a look at the gunman.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS (8477).
