MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Shoppers are hitting the internet for Cyber Monday deals.

Americans are expected to spend $3 billion in online shopping today which is about 12 percent higher than last year.

Major stores like Walmart and Target are rolling out online discounts. Other retailers like Express, Gap and Banana Republic are also offering deals.

According to Wallet Hub, jewelry is the most discounted item at 56 percent. Computers and phones are the least with only a 28 percent discount.

As for shopping over the weekend, Black Friday, usually considered the start of the holiday shopping rush, did not attract as many shoppers to the stores as in previous years.

A National Retail Federation survey found more people shopped online, than in stores, over the long holiday weekend.
