MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) — The Miami Marlins have a reputation for making questionable decisions that leave fans scratching their heads.

Another one of those decisions was made this week.

The Marlins have fired Tommy Hutton, their TV analyst for the last 19 years.

The team said Tuesday it decided to go in a different direction and didn't elaborate on its decision.

Hutton has spent 51 years in professional baseball. He played in the majors from 1966 to 1981.

The Marlins plan to retain their other announcers — Rich Waltz on television, Dave Van Horne and Glenn Geffner on radio.

Hutton was a fan favorite, known among Marlins fans for his knowledge and passion for the game, as well as for the occasional rant.
