PEMBROKE PINES (CBSMiami) – It was a watery mess in a Pembroke Pines neighborhood after an electric company dug a little too deep.

Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue crews told CBS4 News that a crew from Pike Electric was installing a light pole struck and broke a water main in the city on Friday afternoon.

The water flowed everywhere, leaving one woman fearing the worst for her luxury car.

Chopper4 revealed the size of the mess as water flowed from a water main and covered parking lots near businesses along busy Pines Boulevard near Douglas Road around rush hour. We're told that water gushed for about an hour until workers could shut off the valve.

The owner of a Mercedes-Benz, who did not want to give her name, drove into the Wells Fargo parking lot to get some money for the weekend. That's when she says the waters rose.

"I thought it was rain, like it had rained too much," she said.

She said her Mercedes shut off. She said that she and her friend got out and her car sat for hours with water three-quarters of the way up on the back tires.

"I saved so much for this car," she said. "It's really heartbreaking. I'll probably never drive it again."

Workers cleared out the hole where the broken main is and they worked to repair it.

Meanwhile, that crisp white Mercedes got towed to the mechanic. Fortunately, we're told there was no water inside the car.

The owner of that car was on the phone with her insurance company right away.

Meanwhile, fire rescue crews told CBS4 News that water service was interrupted for only a few businesses here along Pines Boulevard.
