CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) – The University of Miami men's basketball team has started the new season off on the right foot.

The Hurricanes have won both of their games and are currently in San Juan to play in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off tournament.

While the team appears poised for a strong season and an NCAA Tournament berth, the future of the squad got a major boost on Wednesday.

Two highly ranked prospects made a commitment to play attend the University once they're finished with high school.

Dewan Huell, a local kid from Norland High School who is the nation's 25th ranked prospect, committed to the Hurricanes after initially showing interest in three different schools.

Huell, a five-star prospect, is a 6-foot-9 power forward who has led Norland to four straight Florida state championships.

As a junior he averaged 19.2 points and 9.1 rebounds and was named the All-Dade Class 8A-6A Player of the Year by the Miami Herald. He reportedly chose Miami over Florida State University and the University of South Carolina.

Huell is just the third five-star prospect to commit to the Hurricanes since 2002.

Bruce Brown, a 6-foot-4 guard from Vermont Academy, chose Miami over the University of Indiana.  He is a four-star prospect that is ranked 44th in the nation by Scout.com.

He previously was considering Xavier University, Purdue University and the University of Massachusetts in addition to Indiana and Miami.

Indiana was thought to be Brown's top choice but he recently said that Miami was always at the top of his list. Another highly regarded prospect in center Rodney Miller Jr. signed with Miami in August.

"We are so excited about continuing to build our program with quality young men, including Dewan Huell, Bruce Brown and Rodney Miller, Jr.," Larrañaga said. "We believe they have great physical talent but also the right mindset to be successful at The U."
