KISSIMMEE (CBSMiami/AP) — Animal raising farms are common across the state of Florida.

Cattle rustling is alive in central Florida, amongst other places in the state.

A former sheriff's deputy was arrested last week and charged with stealing two calves in Osceola County.

Keith Collins faces one count of grand theft. Authorities say the 53-year-old Collins faces a similar charge in nearby Volusia County.

Osceola County Sheriff's Office detectives began their investigation in July after a rancher reported two calves missing from his herd of 100 animals.

They identified Collins as a suspect after they learned he had sold two calves at a livestock market in Sumter County.
