BSO Arrests Barricaded West Park Woman Who Threatened Child & Shot At Deputies

WEST PARK (CBSMiami) – A heavy police presence has saturated a West Park neighborhood where an armed woman was barricaded inside a home Tuesday night.

At around 7:30 p.m., Broward Sheriff's Office deputies said they responded to a call of a woman making threats to hurt herself and her young child.

According to Sheriff Scott Israel, it was the distraught father of the child who called to let them know that the mother of his child was threatening suicide and harm to the 3-year-old girl.

At some point the woman released the child was released unharmed.

The mother proceeded to barricaded herself inside the home by placing a sofa up against the door.

The BSO SWAT team arrived and the woman, who has not been named, fired at the officers.

At one point a BSO officer fearing for his life shot back at the woman.

The woman fired at and damaged a BSO robot which was used in the operation.

BSO then used a "Bobcat" to advance on the front door.

The officers deployed gas and the woman was overcome and an arrest was made.

No one was injured in the operation.

The woman faces numerous charges including aggravated assault on a police officer.

The woman will not be Baker Acted.
