HIGHLAND BEACH (CBSMiami) – A strange submarine-like object washed ashore on Delray Beach Thursday.

The object was first spotted off the coast days ago.

Residents said the U.S. Coast Guard and divers were out in the ocean with the vessel – and it finally got loose enough to reach the beach.

The Coast Guard said if it is a drug submarine that's a rare find because they're usually found in the deep Caribbean, off South America or in the Pacific Ocean.

A number of federal agencies are now investigating, including Homeland Security and the FBI.
