MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Latin superstar Ricky Martin is back at it, running a show, singing with Taylor Swift and getting nominated.

"It's so nice to see you and thanks for being here," Martin said to CBS4's Lisa Petrillo.

It's always good to see one of the biggest crossover artists in the world : the one and only Ricky Martin. It's been a while since Petrillo and Martin have seen each other as she pointed out while showing him a picture taken of the two of them 15 years ago when they last sat down for the release of his super smash hit "She Bangs."

"Oh my God, this was about a couple of weeks ago, I think," joked Martin.

"We look the same, right," laughed Petrillo.

"You look amazing," Martin said.

"No, you look amazing," Petrillo said back.

What is amazing and remarkable is the career Martin has had, which began when he was 12-years old  in a boy band named Menudo.

Petrillo visited Martin on the Univision set of his new talent show, "La Banda.". He is a judge and co-executive producer along with Simon Cowell.

"So let's talk about what this means to you being able to work with these kids and mentor their careers," said Petrillo.

"I've been working with really cool, talented teenagers who are leaving their soul on stage every night and to work with Simon Cowell , whose someone who has done amazing things for music, it's very special," said Martin.

Also very special and unrehearsed was his surprise performance last week on stage in Miami with singer Taylor Swift.

"It was very organic. We got there early in the afternoon. We did a sound check and whatever you saw on stage needed to happen because it needed to happen and it was just that. The audience dictates the energy," Martin explained.

Martin will create more energy when he performs two songs at the Latin Grammys on November 19th. Did we mention he is also up for three awards.
