WEST PALM BEACH (CBSMiami) – A wake is scheduled Friday night for the Boynton Beach man who was killed by a plainclothes police officer.

Family and friends of Corey Jones are gathering at the Payne Chapel AME in West Palm Beach for his wake tonight.

Funeral services will take place Saturday at the same location. The church plans to livestream the services on their website. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions to the Corey Jones Memorial Fund through a GoFundMe account.

The Rev. Al Sharpton is among the eulogists announced for the funeral.

Jones was shot and killed by Palm Beach Gardens police officer Nouman Raja, after his car broke down on the side of I-95 on October 18th. He was waiting for a tow truck on the side of the road.

Raja was on duty but not in uniform and driving an unmarked van.

Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg said Raja fired six shots, three of which hit Jones.

Also, Jones was armed, but had a permit for his gun and did not fire his weapon.

Raja was not wearing a body camera, and none of the department's squad cars are fitted with dashboard cameras. He has been placed on paid administrative leave.

The shooting is being investigated by three separate agencies.
