Corben: 'Hire Butch And Stack Assistants With Canes Legends'

Interviews-wqam

How would the excellent man behind the critically acclaimed "The U" documentaries fix Miami Hurricanes football?

Bring Butch Davis back into the fold.

"My strategy is you hire Butch," Billy Corben says on the Alex Donno Show. "You stack the assistant coaching positions with Canes legends. Butch grooms a successor. He retires after hopefully righting the course, not perfecting the course, but righting it. He becomes Director of Football Operations or whatever it is and then you count your cash. Notice how I don't say count wins or count rings. I say count cash because that's really what the University Administration is concerned about, is this football program is continuing to be an ATM.

"What we witnessed last Saturday was not a new low for Hurricanes football. It wasn't rock bottom. It was the death of Hurricanes football... this was a confirmation for us locally of what the rest of the country has always known and that's Miami Hurricanes football is dead. So we're not trying now to revive an unconscious patient, we're trying to reanimate a dead program."
