TAVERNIER (CBSMiami) — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the murders of a man and woman who were found dead inside their home Friday.

Detectives said a neighbor called 911 to report finding the bodies of Tara Rosado, 26, and Carlos Ortiz, 30. He told police he also found Rosado’s three children — ages 3, 4, and 8 — unharmed. He said the children alerted him that their parents were dead.

Detective Vince Weiner, the lead investigator on the case, said it appeared Rosado and Ortiz were shot to death sometime Thursday night. The children apparently spent the night and most of Friday with their parents dead inside the home.
