MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Gas prices at some South Florida stations are dipping below $2 per gallon.

According to the Sun-Sentinel, at least eight stations in the area were selling as low as $1.99 per gallon on Monday.

Consumers have not seen prices this low since February, according to Gasbuddy.com.

As of Monday, the highest prices in the tri-county area were two stations near Miami International Airport selling each gallon at $3.89.

As for Broward County, the price of regular gas is now at $2.27 per gallon.

In Palm Beach County, the price per gallon averages at $2.31.

For both counties, the price is down by 25 cents from a month earlier, according to AAA.

Company spokesman Mark Jenkins credits the drop of prices due to fall and winter seasons coming meaning demand drops because of fewer road trips.

Also, oil prices are quite low now due to a large global supply that groups like Wall Street's Goldman Sachs has predicted could keep oil prices low for 15 years.
