FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A Fort Lauderdale man accused in a deadly hit and run is asking for a bond reduction.

Scott Roman was arrested in late August. He's accused of hit 22 year old Joseph Deverson who was riding on a scooter.

Roman's bond is set at one million dollars.

Roman said the night Deverson was killed he had been out drinking and was passed out in his car.  He said he gave his keys to a stranger who drove him home.

Investigators found no evidence to back up the story and Roman is not able to give a description of that person.

Prosecutors tried to show that Roman is a flight risk, saying he recently went to Cambodia after talking to someone about how that country will not extradite.

Prosecutors also said Roman's own husband, a man he's been with for 22 years, will not sign to allow their million dollar condo to be used as collateral.

Roman said in court his husband suffers from dementia and is being strongly influenced by neighbors.

The hearing ended late Monday afternoon without a decision.  It will continue Tuesday at 3:30.
