SUNRISE (CBSMiami) – There were tense moments Thursday afternoon at a condominium complex off busy North Pine Island Road as two men were shot and police scoured the area for a gunman.

They also released a very detailed description of him.

A CBS4 crew was on the scene when one Sunrise police officer kicked open the door of one unit and two other officers followed him inside looking for the suspect. One of the officers had his gun drawn.

The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. at the Preserve at Avery Lakes complex at 4086 North Pine Island Road.

Sunrise Police spokeswoman, Officer Michelle Eddy, told CBS4's Peter D'Oench, "At this point we have two victims. They are Hispanic males. The first victim had a gunshot wound to the back. The second victim had a gunshot wound to the head. They are 25 to 30 years old."

Eddy said both victims were taken to Broward General Hospital.

Police sealed off a section of the complex with yellow crime scene tape and used a K-9 to search for the suspect.

"As far as the suspect, we have a description of a white male who is 6'2" tall, 180 pounds, with a blue shirt and light blue jeans. He was in his late 20s. He could be a red skinned or light skinned black male," said Eddy.

It is not known what prompted the shooting.

Police are looking for witnesses.

Anyone who can help Sunrise Police should call them or Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS (8477).
