John Offerdahl's Broward Health Gridiron Grill-Off Food & Wine Festival: A Year in Review

Thousands of football fans and foodies from throughout South Florida and beyond have traveled to Pompano Beach, Florida for the ultimate culinary showdown for charity: John Offerdahl's Broward Health® Gridiron Grill-Off Food & Wine Festival.  Last year, 25 celebrity teams comprised of Miami Dolphins legends and critically-acclaimed, South Florida chefs went head-to-head while helping to raise over $50,000 to Feed the Needs of Kids in Crisis through Offerdahl's Hand-Off Foundation.

It was a day of fun with delicious food, flowing wine and spirits, live entertainment, a silent auction and the chance to meet beloved Miami Dolphins legends.  Attendees even had the opportunity to challenge their favorite football pros to a friendly game during the annual Cornhole Tournament.

As always, the grilling competition was fierce!  The 2014 Judge's Choice Champions were former Miami Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder and Chef Chris Miracolo of S3 Restaurant for their Grilled Cobia Fish Taco recipe.  This sustainable seafood dish, which took the long-term vitality of harvested species and the well-being of the oceans into account, was inspired by the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation and was featured as part of Guy Harvey's Sustainable Seafood Village, an educational and interactive exhibition which was created just for this event.

For the second consecutive year, former Miami Dolphins safety Glenn Blackwood and Chef Victor Franco of Oceans 234 took home the People's Choice Award.  Last year, it was their "Ocean's Landslide" dish featuring Espresso and Chocolate Crusted Filet Mignon that won the prize.

Both chefs will return to defend their titles during the sixth season of this annual tribute to football, food and charity.  To check out a full list of participating athletes and restaurants, visit Gridiron Grill-Off online.
