Gloria Estefan To Perform For The Pope

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Singer and South Florida resident Gloria Estefan is set to perform for Pope Francis during his visit to the United States.

Estefan will perform while the pontiff is in New York at Madison Square Garden on September 25th making her the only Latina to perform for him during the event.

This will be the second time Estefan sings for a pope.

Other big names are set to perform during the ceremony including Jennifer Hudson, Harry Connick, Jr., James "D Train" Williams, Kelli O'Hara and Broadway Inspirational Voices among others.

The performances will take place ahead of a mass offered by Pope Francis that evening.

Martin Sheen and Rosanna Scotto are also set to attend.

As for the pope's visit, he will first stop into Cuba on Saturday afternoon. He is also expected to meet with Cuban leader Raul Castro. On September 22nd, he will head to  Washington, D.C.
