NORTH MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) —  A young man is being charged after hitting  his mother with their car near a South Florida high school.

Miami-Dade Police said it all started at North Miami Beach Senior High School.

Officers said the mother, who is a teacher at the school, and her son got into some sort of dispute prompting him to try and take off which is when he hit his mother.

Once that happened, he took off to the area of 167th Street and North Miami Avenue where he allegedly hit another driver.

Police were able to catch up and arrest him. As of 5 p.m., his car was being towed away.

Rescue crews rushed the mother to a nearby hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time.

Her son, the driver, is now facing a charge of aggravated assault.
