Sixty-two-year-old Luda Logash of Big Pine Key was arrested Saturday and charged with neglect of a disabled person.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says while she was shopping at a Kmart in Marathon around 1 p.m. Saturday, a witness saw two men in wheelchairs sitting in a van that was not running and had the windows rolled up.

A sheriff’s deputy who arrived on the scene was able to open a door to the van.

The sheriff’s office says the men’s wheelchairs were strapped to the floor and they have disabilities that kept that from opening a door or window themselves.

They were unharmed in the incident.
