NORTH MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – If you love kittens, and you love baby showers, then this event is for you!

The Humane Society of Greater Miami is holding its first ever "Kitten Baby Shower," where people can learn everything they need to know about becoming a foster parent for neonatal kittens.

Last year, the Humane Society of Greater Miami saved 350 neonatal kittens (kittens under six weeks of age.)

The "Kitten Baby Shower" will be held Saturday, August 22nd at 2:00pm at the Soffer and Fine Adoption Center located at 16101 W Dixie Hwy in North Miami Beach.

Experts will be on hand to teach you the important points of being a foster parent. You'll receive hands-on training for taking care of neonatal kittens, from bottle feeding to play time.

Foster families can help save the youngest kittens by providing them with the care and love they require in their first few weeks of life as they are too small to stay in the shelter overnight.

The Humane Society of Greater Miami provides every foster with all of the essential supplies needed for proper care as the kittens develop and mature, such as bottles, formula, litter and blankets; that way, they can focus their attention on giving the kitties unconditional love and a proper home in which they can grow.

In addition to a foster orientation, there will also be a donation drive at the event.

They're looking for supplies necessary to care for the kitties. These supplies include KMR powder formula, blankets, replacement nipples for bottles and beds.
