MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A Tropical Depression in the Atlantic has strengthened into Tropical Storm Danny, the fourth storm of the 2015 Atlantic season.

The center of the system is located about 1,505 miles east of the Windward Island with maximum sustained winds reaching 50 miles per hour.

The storm is expected to get stronger during the next 48 hours and will most likely become a hurricane by Thursday.

It's moving toward the west near 12 mph and it's expected to continue to move toward the west Tuesday night followed by a turn toward the west-northwest later on Wednesday.

This forecast track takes the storm toward the Lesser Antilles islands through the next five days, though it likely won't reach the Caribbean until next week.

Since we've got a while to watch this one, it's a great reminder that we are entering what is historically the most active time of hurricane season between August 15th to October 15th.
