MIAMI (CBSMiami) - An investigation is underway after a body was found burned in a Homestead home.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue was called to the residence at SW 6th Street and Krome Terrace around 1 a.m. Tuesday after someone reported a fire.

"Once Miami-Dade Fire arrived and extinguished the fire they found a body inside the home," said Detective Robin Pinkard.

Police have not released the name of the woman.

Frank Reddit, who showed up that bank owned home, said he believes the body is that of his girlfriend, 34-year old Angela Ruff, who was originally from North Carolina.

"I've been with her about seven years," said Reddit who said he dropped her off a corner store Tuesday night around 7 p.m. and that was the last time he saw her.

Reddit said Ruff sold drugs out of the vacant home and would often sleep there. Last month, he said, she was attacked during a deal gone bad.

"I don't condone was she was doing and I knew it was going to end bad for her, I thought she might end up in jail, I never thought she'd end up dead," said Reddit.

Neighbors said the foreclosed home was known as a crack house and a woman named "Angelica" was known to stay there.

"She was harmless, she didn't bother anybody, she didn't hurt anybody," said Eddie Pinilos who lives in the area. "It's pretty frustrating because I knew the girl for years, you know. She's somebody's daughter, somebody's sister, but she got hooked on that addiction," said Pinilos.

Police are now waiting on the Medical Examiners Office to officially identify the woman and determine a cause of death. They have not said if they suspect the woman's death was accidental or if foul play was involved.
