Grieving Mother Asks For Help In Finding Son's Killer

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE(CBS4)---A grieving mother, sister and cousin are asking for the public's help after their 20-year-old loved one is shot and killed early Sunday morning while riding in a car with a friend.
"My son was a good child. He always listened to everybody. He was my life. He was my life," said the mother of Wagnys Flerilien, who was gunned down on S.W. 268th St. at S.W. 115th Court at 6: 30 in the morning.
The mother who did not want to show all of her face told CBS4's Peter D'Oench
"I want the kids who did this stop. I want people to stop doing this. You don't have to take a life like that."
"Don't kill people," she said. "Don't kill people. Just call police if you have a problem. Remember that people have families. You don't have to do this. It is not good. Now I want anyone with information to come forward and tell the police what happened."
D'Oench also spoke to the victim's sister who said "The people who shot my brother need to come forward.
The sister who also did not want to show all of her face and who did not want to be identified said, "The people who did it need to come forward because unlike our family, they are not hurt. Unlike my brother, they are not dead."
Family members say Flerilien had dreamed of becoming a chef. He was currently working at a restaurant and had just finished an overnight shift and was heading to a
restaurant with a friend when bullets were fired at his car.
His relatives say he was given that car by family members as a gift after he graduated from high school.
"It's devastating," said his sister. "I don't like to cry in front of people because that makes it worse. I need to be strong for the family. My brother meant a lot to the family. He was my mother's favorite son. She just lost him and she does not know what to do. My brother was innocent. It just happened."
Flerilien's cousin also did not want to show all of her face or be identified but she said, "I feel bad because like everyone knew him. He was very, very good."
As she shed tears, she said, "I basically grew up with him. I never thought something like this would happen to my cousin. It is so hard having to deal with this."
"Just put your guns down," she said. "This is crazy. I didn't think this would happen to someone so close to me."
Family members say Flerilien was with a friend who was shot in the hand. Their white Nissan Altima ended up in a canal off S.W. 268th St. Crews hoisted it from the canal and the car was taken away for processing by crime scene investigators as detectives search for clues.
Shortly after police responded to that area because of a report of shots being fired, they also discovered a grey Infiniti that they say was also involved in the shooting. That car was found less than a mile away on S.W. 268th St. near S.W. 124th Ave.
Police say there were two other males inside that vehicle. They had minor injuries. They were treated and released.
Detectives say a third car that the suspects were in took off in an unknown direction. They did not have a good description to release of their vehicle.
