Miami-Dade Fights Mosquitoes With Aerial Spraying

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Are the mosquitoes bugging you? Depending on where you live, you may get a break thanks to aerial spraying for blood-suckers.
The Miami-Dade County Public Works and Waste Management Department will use the services of a contractor to conduct mosquito control aerial spraying Thursday night and Friday—if needed.
The plane will go over areas East of US1, Homestead, Florida City, The Redlands, Cutler Bay and West Kendall.
Miami-Dade County will provide the pesticide, Dibrom, also known as Naled, which is certified for use by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the State of Florida.
The number of complaints about mosquitoes has increased, according to the County, which is one of the reasons for the spraying.
Beekeepers are asked to keep their bees covered during the spraying and individuals with known allergic reactions should remain indoors.
