MIAMI (CBSMiami) -Miami-Dade Police arrested a 14-year old in connection to the shooting death of a 15-year old.

The teen has been charged with manslaughter with a deadly weapon.

Meanwhile, loved ones of a teen killed in northwest  Miami-Dade remember him as a star athlete and a good student.

The shooting happened at 5321 NW 27 Place.

According to Miami-Dade Police Det. Marjorie Eloi, police received a call at 11:37 AM of a shooting. When they arrived at a home in a recently built owner-occupied, government subsidized development, they found a 15-year-old boy shot dead.

There were four people in the home; the teen who was shot, two other males and a girl, all between the ages of 12 and 18.

Police are not saying how they believe the fatal shooting came to happen.

Det. Eloi said all of the young people who were in the home are being questioned at police headquarters as detectives try to sort things out.

A man who arrived at the scene collapsed sobbing after apparently being delivered the news by a police officer.

The boy who was killed was struck by a bullet in his chest area.

Miami-Dade School's Superintendent Alberto Carvalho said he welcomes the beginning of the school year on August 24th after what has been a long, bloody summer.

"Once school starts peace is restored to our community. Kids are safer in school than they are on the streets of Miami," Carvalho said.

Det. Eloi, seemingly suggested one of the young people had gotten the gun from an unaware parent, and offered this advice, "We want to remind our parents to keep their weapons away from their young ones."
