TEQUESTA (CBSMiami/AP) – The search for two teens who went missing off the Atlantic coast over a week ago continues as dog teams made their way to Savannah to aid in the quest.

The volunteer search and rescue group DEEMI, out of Maine, is sending its canine team to the Georgia coastline.

The Coast Guard called off the official search last Friday but private groups have not given up hope as they search for Perry Cohen and Austin Stephanos, both 14.

The boat the two teens were on was found capsized on July 26 but has since gone missing, according to multiple media outlets.

Coast Guard spokesman Anthony Soto said Monday the boat had been left unsecured and the agency has no plans to look for it.

Soto says the boat wasn't brought to shore earlier because officials were focused on search efforts instead.

A pair of life vests were found on a sandbar 20 miles off Savannah but there's no confirmation they belong to the teens.
