Kendall Man Accused Of Stabbing Wife To Death

MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) — A Kendall man is facing a second degree murder charge after he reportedly stabbed his wife to death and then called police from a nearby grocery to confess to police.

Abner Lawton, 80, stabbed his wife, Betty Lawton, multiple times inside their home on Sunday.

Lawton, still wearing bloody clothes, then drove to a near by Publix and used a customer service phone to call 911 and report that he had killed his wife, according to his arrest report.

Officers found sent to Lawton's home and found his wife dead with multiple stab wounds.

An attorney for Abner Lawton said during a Monday court appearance that the man is suffering from an advanced case of Alzheimer's disease.
