Nelson’s wife, Grace, said “our prayers have been answered,” in a statement released Monday, adding that a pathology report confirmed that her husband was free of cancer.

The 72-year-old Florida Democrat had the surgery last week in Washington, D.C., five days after he publicly disclosed that he had prostate cancer.
